Content Writer, Subject Matter Expert (SME) Information Technology (Contracted Vendor)
Florida Virtual School is currently seeking an interested Subject Matter Expert (SME) with demonstrated subject area mastery and/or professional teaching/industry knowledge in Information Technology. The contracted content writer will design and write course content and assessments for a High School Web Design course. In addition to content creation, the SME is responsible for curriculum innovation, validating the correctness, and for ensuring the highest quality courses for FLVS and its clients/partners. The SME will be on a contract basis for a specific task(s) defined through a contractual agreement and will be paid upon completion of those tasks.
For consideration, a potential contractor should have proven experience with the job requirements as listed below:
* Master‚s degree in Education or related area or a minimum of two years experience in the field of curriculum writing and/or designing in the content area
* Three or more years of teaching experience preferred
* Industry experience in the Information Technology field
* Professional Teaching Certificate preferred
* Career and Technical Education (CTE)
* Project based learning
* The ability to integrate academics into the CTE content
* Relating subject matter to the real world
* Student engagement in an online environment
* Implementation of 21st century technology into the content
* Various forms of assessments and rubric integration
* Comprehensive content knowledge in specific subject area
* Experience with educational technology, teaching strategies and/or online instructional design
* Strong oral, written and online communication skills
* Ability to complete thorough and accurate work
* Manage time effectively to meet project timelines and produce high quality results
Responsibilities Primary responsibilities for this opportunity include, but are not limited to:
* Develop and write content and assessments that meet state standards while using sound and accepted curriculum pedagogical practices
* Review and provide quality assurance testing to validate correctness of content and/or assessments
* Collaborate with the FLVS project team and other project vendors to write content and meet project timelines
* Review and provide necessary revisions for course content and assessments
* Contribute to 21st century technology in FLVS content
* Contribute to the revision of internally and externally produced content and resources
* Adhere to project timelines
* Meet other contractually agreed upon project-based criteria for work product and expectations
* If selected for consideration, potential contractors will be required to provide a lesson plan sample.
